Keating Development Company, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) and the General Service Administration (GSA) worked together to redevelop the historic Main Post Office and Courthouse on Franklin Avenue in downtown Waco, Texas into a new state-of-the-art federal courthouse and federal office building.
The existing Mission/Spanish Colonial style three-story masonry and terra cotta structure was approximately 82,000 sq ft. The new 98,000 sq ft building is the product of infill of the C-shaped upper floors and a new 30,000 sq ft addition. It includes a large Marshal’s suite with holding cells, office space, and secure two vehicle sallyport; new parking for judges; and offices for court support functions. The renovation and addition both passed a rigorous Section 106 SHPO analysis.
