Keating Building Corporation was awarded the Construction Management contract for the 72,456 sq ft expansion and over 93,000 sq ft of renovations to the Chester County Prison facility. This includes the construction of a new 50,000 sq ft, $10 million Juvenile Detention Center and upgrades to the existing wastewater treatment plant. The $54 million prison expansion will provide additional single and double capacity housing for male and female inmates in the medium security, pre-release, and medical areas. A total of 256 new cells (512-beds) will be added, bringing the bed count to 1,040.
Juvenile Detention Center
The new Juvenile Detention Center project is being constructed to provide a long term solution to the Juvenile Detention problems currently being experienced. The existing Center is inadequate to meet the needs of the County and thus significant numbers of juveniles are being sent to neighboring counties at significant cost to Chester County. This project will provide for three male, one female, and one shelter detention housing units with on-unit counselors. Program Space includes administrative offices, counselor offices, intake/discharge, medical suite, kitchen, dining/multi-purpose rooms, 5 classrooms, chapel, full size gymnasium, enclosed outdoor exercise yard, laundry and shop.
