The $48 million project was approached on a multi-phased basis and includes low, medium and high security facilities. This 12-building complex consists of four housing buildings (496 units), inside and perimeter administration facilities, medical/segregation unit, gymnasium, recreational center, educational rooms, dining/personnel services, laundry and maintenance on a 425 acre site..

In addition to actual building construction, substantial sitework was performed which included infrastructure work and more than 1,000,000 cubic yards of earthwork cuts and fills. Rough grading was performed for future expansion and an additional correctional center to be located on a nearby 640-acre parcel.

Keating’s scheduling systems were put in place early in the project to accomplish completion of sitework within eight months; completion of 8 buildings within 13 months; and completion of remaining buildings 2 months later. Early planning and schedule analysis indicated critical paths through the sitework and particularly in the building footprint areas and building structures where a “weather tight” environment needed to be rapidly achieved— thus allowing interior finishes to proceed. Project was completed on schedule and within budget.
